Phoebe
Privacy Policy
Last updated September 1, 2026
Phoebe ("the app", "we", "us") is a single-player game published by RPRE Tech Studio. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and how you can have it deleted. We have tried to keep it specific rather than generic.
The short version
- The app has no login and asks for no personal details — no name, email, phone number, or address.
- Your game progress is stored only on your device.
- If you use the optional online leaderboard, we store an anonymous ID, a randomly generated handle (for example ashen-ridge-37), and your best level and times.
- The app shows rewarded ads from Google AdMob only when you choose to watch one for an extra life.
- You can request deletion of everything we store at any time.
1. Information we collect
a. Information you never give us
The app has no account system. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, or any government identifier.
b. Stored on your device only
The following is saved locally using your device's standard app storage and is never transmitted to us:
- Your current level, lives, streaks, and statistics.
- Cooldown timers after a failed run.
- Settings: sound, music, reduced motion, high contrast, and your chosen leaderboard name.
- A flag recording whether you have been asked for notification permission.
Deleting the app removes all of this.
c. Online leaderboard (optional)
The leaderboard is powered by Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore). If it is enabled for your build and you complete a level:
- Anonymous user ID. Firebase Anonymous Authentication issues a random identifier for your installation. It is not linked to a Google account, your device's advertising ID, or any personal information.
- Guest handle. A random adjective-noun-number name generated on your device. You may change it once. Please do not put personal information in it.
- Scores. Your furthest level reached and your best completion time per level configuration, plus the timestamp of the write.
If the leaderboard is disabled, or you never finish a level, nothing is sent to Firebase beyond the anonymous sign-in itself.
d. Advertising
The app uses Google AdMob to show rewarded video ads, which appear only when you actively choose to watch one in exchange for an extra life. To serve and measure these ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may process:
- Your device's advertising identifier (Apple IDFA / Android Advertising ID), where permitted;
- Device and diagnostic information (model, OS version, coarse language / region, IP address);
- Ad interaction events (impressions, completions, clicks).
On iOS the app requests App Tracking Transparency permission, and on all platforms it presents a Google UMP consent form where required (for example in the EEA and UK). If you decline tracking or consent, ads are limited to non-personalised ads. This data is collected and used by Google as an independent controller under Google's Privacy Policy.
e. Notifications
The app schedules a local notification to tell you when a cooldown timer has expired. These are generated on your device. We do not run a push server and cannot send you messages remotely.
f. Analytics
The app does not include a third-party product-analytics or crash-reporting SDK. Google (Firebase and AdMob) collects limited operational logs as described above.
2. Why we use this data
| Data | Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| On-device progress & settings | Run the game and remember your preferences | Contract / legitimate interest |
| Anonymous ID, handle, scores | Operate the optional leaderboard | Legitimate interest; consent where required |
| Advertising identifiers & ad events | Show and measure rewarded ads, fund the app | Consent |
3. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with:
- Google LLC — Firebase (leaderboard hosting, authentication) and AdMob (advertising). Data may be processed on Google servers outside your country, including the United States, under Google's standard contractual clauses and other safeguards.
- Apple / Google — the app store you downloaded from provides its own aggregate download and crash statistics.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or ourselves.
4. Data retention
- On-device data stays until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Leaderboard entries are kept while the leaderboard is active. Anonymous accounts and their entries that are inactive for more than 24 months may be purged automatically.
- Ad data is retained by Google per its own retention schedules.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data, and to object to processing or withdraw consent.
- Delete leaderboard data: use the data deletion request form, or the in-app option where available.
- Delete on-device data: clear the app's storage in your system settings, or uninstall the app.
- Control ad tracking: change App Tracking Transparency or "Delete/Reset Advertising ID" in your device settings; reopen the consent form from the app's privacy settings where offered.
- Ask a question or make a request: email tech.rpre@gmail.com.
Because leaderboard accounts are anonymous, we identify your data solely by the anonymous ID your app holds — see the deletion form for how to find it. We will respond to verified requests within 30 days.
6. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Ads are requested with settings appropriate for a general audience. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
Leaderboard traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Backend writes are constrained by server-side security rules. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to this policy
We will update this page and the "last updated" date when this policy changes. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or its store listing.
